We all agreed on the names of our two newest furry family members. Jasmine is a petite, cutesy calf with long eyelashes and a small, feminine face. Violet is a quality calf with a very Angus-ish (short and boxy) face and slightly bulkier body than Jazz. They are both very friendly and love getting brushed and (of course) fed. Mom has just begun to halter train them. Violet is catching on very quickly and will probably be trained in a few days. Jasmine might take a little longer to learn (probably because she tends to occasionally collapse on the ground at the beginning of the lesson, too tired to move or get up again for a while). My Gemstones are doing well, and are scratching up their pen all the time now. They are finally (and happily) outside in their cute, two-story chicken coop which Dad painted to make it more durable.

Last (but not least!) we have taken in two horses. My mom has a friend named Helen, who owns four horses. Mom offered to keep two of the horses—Max (a handsome chestnut) and Cruise (a beautiful bay)—on our property so they could eat some of our grass down and so that she and Helen could ride in our area. Helen comes nearly ever day to check on them and they are living happily in the paddock.

Callie is still a little trouble maker, but doing well. She loves getting pet and has a few little beds she loves to curl up and sleep in. Jaynee is extremely hyper, and hurts her paws often from her nearly constant running on the concrete. Jess, as prissy as ever, has gotten shocked by the electrical wire a few times now. She doesn’t seem to have learned that she’s not to go on the grass quite yet, but oh well. She is still adorable and loved by all.
